EBTA Three Counties Teachers’ Gathering

In the past, EBED has hosted the EBTA conference on a biennial basis. However, attendance typically comprised of fewer than ten percent of its members, with many discouraged from participating due to the distance from their location to the event venues.

Expanding the game to more universities

EBED and the EBU are working jointly with the EBU to have more universities active with their own
Bridge Societies/Clubs. Over a number of years there has been a decline that we wish to halt and
turn around.
We are trying the following approach:
1. Identifying an enthusiast lead amongst the students. Initially they tend to be youth squad
members or the offspring of known players but this will need to be widened as we go on
2. Offer them an individual award of £1000 in staged payments for meeting set criteria in

Autumn Bridge Camp

Youngsters attending our Autum Bridge Camp had a fabulous time. Woldingham School in Surrey was the new venue for the Autumn Youth Bridge weekend. 41 youngsters from complete beginners to squad members, and assorted camp followers enjoyed lots of bridge tuition and play. This was interspersed with the usual frisbee and football, but also art and drama. Many thanks are due to all the volunteer tutors and to Will Clennell for running the bridge games.
