Young Bridge Challenge 2023
The 2023 event will be held on Saturday, 4th March
The Young Bridge Challenge is a half-day teams events for school-age bridge players which takes place in Spring each year. The event is held at Loughborough Grammar School (LE11 2DU).
Hosted by EBED this is a half-day bridge event is for young players of all experience levels. This is a FREE to enter event, and entries of single players or pairs are also welcomed. Details for the 2023 event are on our Youth Event Calendar, with links to booking form (via the Bridge4Schools website)
The event format:
♠ Qualifying rounds for all teams (Swiss)
♥ The top 4 teams (who must be from a single school) then play Semi-Finals leading to the Final for the Schools Cup
♦ Swiss Teams The Remaining teams play for the Schools Plate (for teams from a single school) and the Harry Scully Trophy (for mixed school teams)
♣ Lots of Fun! Come and join in!
Usual schedule for this afternoon event:
Teams should log in good time for a prompt 12:45pm start. We are scheduled to finish at 6:30pm.
12:45 - 16:00 --> Swiss Teams (4 x 5 board matches)
16:00 - 16:30 --> Tea Break
16:30 - 18:00 --> Swiss Teams (2 x 5 board matches)
16:30 - 18:20 --> Semi Finals and Finals
Please note the timings above are based on last year but may be varied depending on the numbers of participants.
FOR THE LESS EXPERIENCED Want to play fewer hands and play more slowly? We have a new competition for you this year, whether you are from a bridge playing school or not. You will play short matches against other school teams like yourself, but the timings and the
food will be the same. Number of boards may be around 15-20, but we can adjust to suit those involved.
