Andy Margetts has now formally taken over Chairmanship of EBED following the retirement of Andrew Petrie. Andrew Petrie has been involved with the charity since its inception and has been instrumental in getting it established as an independent organisation. Two other trustees are also now retiring: Gary Ames, who has played a leading role in shaping EBED’s education activities since it was founded and who, we are pleased to say, will continue to be involved as one of our Teacher Educators; and David Waxman who has been a trustee for the past three years and has chaired our Education Advisory Group and shaped our Governance Policy. We are enormously grateful to all three for their contributions to EBED.
Replacing the retirees, EBED is pleased to announce that Terry Hewett, Mary Sharp and Douglas Wright have joined the Board of Trustees:
- Terry is well known in the bridge community having been Chairman at Wimbledon Bridge Club and co-founder of the Night of the Stars Charity Bridge Pro-Am
- Mary is a former journalist and English Literature teacher at a leading grammar school. She is now an active bridge teacher in Bucks
- Douglas served in the Royal Navy and then became the CEO of a software company before founding the 3 Counties Bridge teaching school and assisting Surrey CBA in developing the game
