The February half-term was a break from school, but not from mental exercise as a number of bridge events for junior players took place. Unlike school, however, these proved to be very popular with the youngsters! Events included:
- At West Midlands BC a group who had played minibridge at school were introduced to bidding, and had even bid and made seven clubs before the two hour session had ended.
- At the Roehampton Club 18 youngsters, ranging in age from 6 to 14, with their parents, grandparents and helpers, were given a 2 hour introduction to mini bridge. The organisers report it was great fun - and not just for the children!
- Wimbledon BC had 20 youngsters learning minibridge. It proved very popular, with one parent reporting they have already played a few times at home. The club is hoping to hold more sessions in the Easter Holidays.
- In Guernsey, pupils in years 5 & 6 took part in the minibridge part of the EBED Students and Schools Sim Pairs. If your school or club would like to take part please see here for more information.
If you are planning any activities for youngsters - perhaps during the Easter holidays - please let us know. A calendar of upcoming junior events is available here.
