Bridge For All Minibridge Simultaneous Pairs underway

The Bridge For All Minibridge Simultaneous Pairs, organised by EBED, began earlier this month, with schools and beginners groups able to participate in a nationwide minibridge competition.

The event is a great way for bridge students to put what they have learned in to practice in a national competition. The hands can be played any time until the end of November, and a commentary booklet is available to help participants know what they could, and perhaps should, have done.

If your group would like to take part please contact Lisa Miller - 01296 317217, lisa@ebedcio.org.uk - for more information and to receive the relevant hand records and commentaries.

Results will appear on the EBU website in November.

Juniors: time to start planning your spring events

There are a few great events coming up this spring for junior bridge players.

In March EBED will again be organising the Young Bridge Challenge. This is a fun day of bridge for all ages and abilities. It includes the Schools Cup - the main national competition for school teams - as well as a Swiss Teams competitions for those not representing a school, and a minibridge competition for less experienced players. Entry is free to all participants. It takes place on Saturday 4th March at Loughborough Grammar School. Please complete and return this entry form.

In April there will be another youth bridge camp at Cheltenham Ladies College and Cheltenham Bridge Club. This residential event is organised by Ro Kaye and Joan Bennett and follows on from the successful camp they held there in August. It will take place on 8th and 9th April 2017 and offers bridge lessons and competitions, alongside other social and sporting activities. For more details please contact Joan.

The Under 21 Championship Pairs takes place on 15th April at the Easter Festival in London. This is for anyone born after 1st January 1996, and is free to enter. Please see the EBU website for more details.
